Beware of the Reply-All

Everybody knows that many emails are sent when they really shouldn’t be.  They could be break-up emails, drunk emails, and whatever else human nature provides.

Yesterday, someone at work replied-all to everybody in my department, with scathing remarks about the current situation, using words like “persecution,” “corruption,” and “destruction.”  I really can’t say much else in case I have to report to this person in the future.  Needless to say, the department was abuzz with talk of this email, which was actually intended for the department head’s eyes only.

I turned on a feature on Gmail labs, that defaults to reply-all over replying to the individual, and myself having to remember to reply-all.  Perhaps I should turn it off…or, you know, don’t be an idiot when I email.
